Alan Bindig:  This is Alan from The Vanishing Point, I'm here in the Big Star Basement with Merzbow, and DJ Alien, who's doing the translating for us, and we're asking some questions on the night of the gig.  So firstly, how long are you staying in Australia for this trip?

Masami Akita:  I'm here until the 16th of February, so I'm going to be here for eleven days.

AB:  Are there any other concerts planned during that time interstate or around the country?

MA:  I'm here for the What Is Music 2004 Merzbow festival.  I've already been in Brisbane from the 6th to the 8th, and I've played variuos gigs there.  Tonight I'm in Adelaide, and I'm flying out to Perth tomorrow and then after that I'll be heading on to Sydney for What Is Music there, and then I'll be heading to Melbourne for What Is Music there, as part of the What Is Music tour.

AB:  Musically what can people expect from the Merzbow gigs?  What sort of style, how would you describe it?

MA:  Expect what I usually produce, plus my new material which I've been playing - expect the usual Merzbow!

AB:  What projects do you have planned for the future?

MA:  Coming up in April I have a Europe tour.   I'l be starting in Berlin, and then onto Lituania, and then onto Holland and Birmingham and playing in the UK, and then in May I'll be playing at the Throbbing Gristle gig.  Apparently everyone's reforming and I'll be playing there as well.

AB:  I think that's all I've really got so thanks for doing the interview and I hope it goes well tonight!

MA:  Thank you.

End of interview.
